Detroit Lions on a high – Philadelphia Eagles lose first game of the season

In Amon-Ra St. Brown’s comeback, the Detroit Lions manage their fifth win of the season. The Jets surprisingly beat the Eagles, while the Patriots also lose to the Raiders.

New England Patriots @ Las Vegas Raiders

The New England Patriots are deeper and deeper in the crisis: Even without the injured Jimmy Garoppolo, the Las Vegas Raiders managed to get a win against Belichick’s team.

Jimmy Garoppolo had to leave the game in the second quarter due to a back injury, veteran Brian Hoyer took over for him and threw for 162 yards. Running back Josh Jacobs ran the ball 25 times for 77 yards. Ex-Patriots receiver Jakobi Meyers recorded five catches for 61 yards and a touchdown. It was the first time this season the Raiders scored more than 20 points.

Ezekiel Elliott scored his first touchdown for the New England Patriots in the third quarter, while Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson made the game interesting with a score in the fourth quarter. But the Raiders sealed the win with a safety against Mac Jones with two minutes left.

Las Vegas gets its third win of the season (3-3), New England falls to 1-5, the worst start to a season in Bill Belichick’s twenty-three year career as Patriots Head Coach.

Arizona Cardinals @ Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams picked up their first home win of the season against the Arizona Cardinals. The Rams were convincing offensively and defensively against the outmatched Cardinals.

Cooper Kupp turned in an impressive performance in his second game of the season, scoring his first touchdown of the season and catching seven passes for 148 yards. Rams running back Kyren Williams also excelled with 20 carries for 158 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Los Angeles won for the third time this season (3-3), while the Cardinals suffered their fifth loss of the year (1-5).

Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Jets

The NFL’s last undefeated team also loses: The Philadelphia Eagles lost to the New York Jets after a hard-fought game. For the Jets it was the first win against the Eagles in franchise history.

The Jets’ defence allowed only 14 points against the strong Eagles’ offence and intercepted Jalen Hurts three times – never before he threw for more picks in a game. The third interception was game-changing when Jets safety Tony Adams intercepted Hurts’ pass with two minutes left and carried the ball just outside the goal line. Breece Hall scored the winning touchdown shortly afterwards.

Offensively, little was enough for the Jets to win the game: Zach Wilson threw for 186 yards without throwing a touchdown or an interception. Receiver Garrett Wilson caught eight passes for 90 yards and running back Breece Hall recorded 39 rushing yards and 54 receiving yards in addition to the decisive touchdown.

The Jets win their third game of the season (3-3) and the Eagles lose for the first time after five straight wins (5-1).

Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Detroit Lions stay on course and win their third game in a row – the Buccaneers never really find their way into the game and have to admit defeat.

Both the Lions’ offence and defence were convincing: The offence managed a total of 380 yards, while the defence only allowed 251 yards and caught one interception. Amon-Ra St. Brown made a strong comeback and recorded twelve catches for 124 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Jared Goff continued his form and threw for 353 yards and two touchdowns.

The Detroit Lions won their fifth game of the season (5-1) and remain stable at the top of the NFC North. Tampa Bay concedes its second loss of the season (3-2) but still remains first in the NFC South.
