George Pickens wants to make a fresh start after his trade to the Cowboys. He does not want to think about upcoming contract talks.
A new chapter is beginning in the NFL for George Pickens. The wide receiver has been traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Dallas Cowboys. The pass receiver, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, could find exactly what he has been missing at America’s Team: a team that focuses on the passing game.
If he wants to land a lucrative contract, it is essential that Pickens shows up and proves his skills in the coming season.
“To be honest, I’m just living in the moment right now,” Pickens told US journalists regarding free agency in 2026. ”I’m not really thinking about contract talks. I’m just happy to be here with the Cowboys and trying to build a winning culture.”
For his chapter with the Cowboys to be successful, Pickens will have to fit into the offense around star receiver CeeDee Lamb. So the 24-year-old may not see as many targets as he would like. But that’s probably not a problem for the newcomer.
Pickens looking forward to Lamb
“I’m very excited,” he said of his future collaboration with Lamb: “In football, we can support each other. There’s no ‘Oh, he’s getting the ball, I’m getting the ball’ – we benefit from each other.”
He added: “That’s why I keep coming back to building a winning culture, and that’s exactly what we talked about in Dallas.”
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott can therefore look forward to not only a talented but above all a motivated new receiver.
