Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers concede a bitter defeat against the Carolina Panthers. Dak Prescott returns from injury to win with the Dallas Cowboys against the Detroit Lions.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers 3:21

The crisis of Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continues to come to a head. At the Carolina Panthers they conceded their fourth defeat in the last five games. Brady completed 32 of his 49 passes for 290 yards, but was also let down by his pass receivers.

The first quarter remained scoreless. Mike Evans let an almost certain touchdown go unused because he let a deep pass from Brady slip through his hands. Apart from that, the two teams’ offences did not produce much for a long time. Only 29 seconds before the break did the first points appear on the scoreboard. P.J. Walker threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to D.J. Moore.

While the Buccaneers offence continued to fail to find their game, the Panthers extended their lead in the third period. Chuba Hubbard went 17 yards into the end zone for a solid 14-0 lead. It was not until the beginning of the final quarter that the Buccaneers scored their first points with a fumble goal.

The Panthers, however, remained more effective. Walker followed up with his second touchdown when he threw 29 yards into the end zone and Tommy Tremble caught the ball – 21:3 for Carolina. The Panthers thus celebrated their second win in the seventh game.

Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys 6:24

German wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown experienced a very bitter game. Already in the first quarter, the Lions’ pass receiver had to be taken out of the game due to a suspected concussion. Instead, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott celebrated a successful comeback after his thumb operation with 207 passing yards and a touchdown pass;

Overall, the game offered few highlights in the first half. Only the kickers provided points, so that it went into the break with a 6:3 lead for the Lions. After that, however, the Cowboys’ offence found its game. Running back Ezekiel Elliott found his way into the end zone twice to make the score 17-6 with just under three minutes to go, and Prescott’s touchdown pass to Peyton Hendershot a minute later decided the game.

Lions playmaker Jared Goff completed 21 of his 26 passes for 228 yards but also committed four turnovers (2 fumbles, 2 interceptions).

Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans 10:19

The Titans benefited from their defense and special teams in the first half of the game. After only kicker Randy Bullock provided points in the first quarter, the defence stepped up. Andrew Adams intercepted a pass from Colts quarterback Matt Ryan and carried it 76 yards into the opposing end zone. Another field goal followed before halftime to make the score 13-0.

The Colts only managed their first points after 36 minutes of play when Ryan threw a touchdown pass into the arms of Parris Campbell and cut the deficit to 7:13. In the rest of the game, only the kickers were able to score, so that the Titans’ victory was no longer in danger.

Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill had an unspectacular game with 132 passing yards. Colts playmaker Ryan recorded 243 passing yards, but he also made two interceptions.

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens 20:23

Baltimore Ravens came up just short against the Cleveland Browns. Quarterback Lamar Jackson was rather unremarkable with 120 passing yards and 59 rushing yards. He did not manage a touchdown pass, nor did Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who recorded 258 passing yards.

Nick Chubb completed the Browns’ first drive with a touchdown. In the next two drives, both teams got a field goal each, so that the Browns led 10:3. Then Baltimore’s offense got going: with another field goal and a touchdown run by Gus Edwards, the Ravens turned the game around before the break – 13:10.

Even Edwards, who was making his comeback after an injury that lasted more than a year, was very effective. The running back got into the end zone one more time when the Ravens scored their fourth try at the opposing 1-yard line. With nine minutes to play, the Browns cut the deficit to 20-23 with a touchdown from Kareem Hunt.

With 3:20 minutes left in the game, Ravens running back Justice Hill lost the ball out of his hand, leaving Cleveland in control of the game’s outcome. However, the 60-yard field goal attempt failed.

Green Bay Packers at Washington Commanders 21:23

In an evenly matched game, Washington narrowly retained the upper hand. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke had a mixed performance with 200 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers recorded 194 passing yards and two touchdown passes. It was the third straight loss for Green Bay.

After both teams’ first two drives were unsuccessful, the Packers provided the first touchdown. Rodgers passed to Aaron Jones, who ploughed his way into the end zone. The Commanders got into the red zone in return but could not get beyond a field goal.

At the start of the second period, Washington quarterback Taylor Heinicke made a pick six. De’Vondre Campbell intercepted the ball and got into the end zone – 14:3 for Green Bay. The Commanders reduced the deficit with a touchdown pass from Heinicke to Antonio Gibson, so that it went into the break with a score of 10:14.

In general, Heinicke found his form with increasing playing time. A strong 37-yard touchdown pass to Terry McLaurin gave Washington a 17:14 lead. Two field goals followed to make it 23:14 before Rodgers reduced the deficit to 21:23 with his second touchdown pass to Jones 3:26 minutes before the end of the game. However, no further points were scored.

New York Giants at Jacksonville Jaguars 23:17

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence conceded a narrow defeat despite his 310 passing yards and one rushing touchdown.

The Giants got right into the end zone on their first drive. Daniel Jones (202 YDS, 1 TD) served Darius Slayton with a touchdown pass. The Jaguars had the right answer: Travis Etienne got into the end zone. Jacksonville even followed up with a two-point conversion.

Bitter: With the score at 11:10, Jacksonville could have extended their lead shortly before the break. However, Etienne lost a fumble in the opponent’s red zone. The Giants used the resulting possession for a field goal and went into the break with a 13:11 lead.

Lawrence, the Jaguars’ quarterback, got into the end zone himself in the third quarter. The Jaguars were back in front 17-13. Giants passer Daniel Jones, however, did the same with 5:31 minutes to go – so the Giants were back in the lead with 20:17.

One minute before the end of the game, the lead was increased by three points via a field goal, so that the Jaguars could only have turned the game around with a touchdown. Bitter: In the end, they were only one yard short.
