Seahawks continue to lose without Russell Wilson – narrow win for Saints

The Seattle Seahawks continue to be unable to win without their injured quarterback Russell Wilson and lose their third game in a row.

Seattle/Munich – The New Orleans Saints narrowly edged out the Seattle Seahawks 13-10 on Monday Night Football.

Seattle initially got off to the better start in the game with Geno Smith, filling in for the injured Russell Wilson, throwing an 84-yard touchdown pass to DK Metcalf. In the second quarter, the Saints were more effective: First they managed a field goal, then shortly before halftime a touchdown pass from Jameis Winston to Alvin Kamara – 10:7 for New Orleans.

Seahawks kicker misses two field goals

In the second half of the game, only the kickers provided points. Jason Myers tied the game in the third quarter with a 50-yard field goal, but he also had two missed kicks. Brian Johnson, the Saints’ kicker, made the decisive field goal two minutes before the end of the game to make it 13-10.

The Seahawks failed to get a first down on the ensuing drive, allowing the Saints to run down the clock on their own possession.

Winston finished with 222 passing yards and one touchdown pass. The defence managed five sacks, two of them by Demario Davis alone. Seahawks backup quarterback Smith recorded 167 passing yards and a touchdown pass.

New Orleans is now at four wins and two losses, while the Seahawks have a 2-5 record.
