Close win to open Week 16 in the NFL: the Tennessee Titans beat the San Francisco 49ers after a comeback in the second half. One returnee in particular comes up trumps.
Nashville/Munich – Comeback win for the Tennessee Titans in the Thursday Night Game.
The Titans beat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 after trailing 10-0 at halftime. The main players in the Titans’ victory were kicker Randy Bullock, who converted the decisive 44-yard field goal with seconds left, and wide receiver A.J. Brown, who made his comeback.
Brown had 11 receptions for 145 yards in the statistics at the end of the game. He also scored the touchdown to give the Titans the lead in the fourth quarter.
Garoppolo with two interceptions
On the 49ers’ side, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo played a big part in the defeat. Although “Jimmy G.” threw for 322 yards (26/35 passes), he made two interceptions and many other inaccuracies in his game. For example, he threw over a completely free Kyle Juszczyk and the 49ers could only land a field goal instead of the second touchdown.
On the other side, Ryan Tannehill played a solid game with 209 yards of space gained (22/29 passing) and a touchdown.
Tennessee can now clinch the AFC South with a defeat of the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals and enter the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys have already secured their playoff spot with the 49ers’ loss.
