The game was decided in the final minutes of the first half when the Saints initially led 14-6. First the Cardinals equalised with a Keaontay Ingram touchdown and a two-point conversion.

Then Saints quarterback Andy Dalton made two pick-sixes. First Marco Wilson returned it 38 yards, then a short time later Isaiah Simmons returned it 56 yards. Within just two and a half minutes, the Cardinals had turned a deficit into a 28-14 lead.
