Las Vegas Raiders beat Green Bay Packers – Jordan Love throws away win

The Las Vegas Raiders have picked up their second win in their fifth game. Against the Green Bay Packers, the Raiders win 17-13 in an offensively tough game.

Josh McDaniels has pulled his Las Vegas Raiders’ head out of the noose a little. The Head Coach won with his team against the Green Bay Packers with 17:13. Especially in the first half the offence continued to falter.

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was again off his game. After a first half in which he was inconspicuous but made no mistakes, he threw an interception on the first drive of the third quarter. This was his seventh interception of the season and the most in the league.

In total, he carried 22 of his 31 balls for 208 yards and a touchdown. Three times he was sacked by the Packers’ defence.

The running game, led by reigning rushing champ Josh Jacobs, also has yet to get going. Jacobs only managed 69 yards on 20 runs and one touchdown, while the Raiders totalled 96 rushing yards. German fullback Jakob Johnson made an excellent block at the goal line for Jacobs’ touchdown.

Receiving leader for the Raiders was not Davante Adams, who caught only one ball in the 1st half (four in total for 45 yards), but newcomer Jakobi Meyers. The former New England Patriot caught seven balls for 75 yards and a touchdown. Star pass rusher Maxx Crosby grabbed Packers quarterback Jordan Love once.

Love throws away three balls

The Green Bay Packers’ offense also showed itself to be more than rusty. Love, in particular, was once again notable for his inaccuracy. 16 of his 30 balls arrived, he gained 182 yards and no touchdown. However, he did throw two interceptions to Raiders cornerback Robert Spillane, one of them painful in the fourth quarter and another on the final drive against Amik Robertson. Love now stands at six INTs.

In the absence of Aaron Jones, who continues to be banged up, AJ Dillon was the Packers’ lead back. But like his counterpart Jacobs, little went right for him. 76 yards of space gained on 20 attempts are somewhat overshadowed by his touchdown. All in all, Love’s scrambles gave the Packers 110 rushing yards.

Green Bay’s best receiver was Christian Watson with three catches and 91 yards, including a 77-yard reception on a broken play by the Raiders defence. Romeo Doubs, previously the Cheeseheads’ most reliable receiver, caught only one ball for four yards. Rudy Ford intercepted a ball from Jimmy G, who was sacked a total of three times. In the end, the Raiders’ stellar defensive backfield decided the game.

The Raiders host the New England Patriots in week six, while the Packers can look forward to their bye week.
