According to media reports, 49ers owner Jed York attempted to purchase sexual services and encountered an undercover investigator.

Jed York, owner and CEO of the San Francisco 49ers, was arrested over the weekend in the state of Ohio as part of a police operation targeting prostitution. The incident took place in East Palestine, as reported by the “New York Post,” among others.

According to authorities, York responded to an online ad and agreed to pay $140 for sexual services. However, the alleged sex worker was actually part of an undercover police operation. When York arrived at the agreed-upon meeting place in a trailer park, he was arrested. His cell phone, which was allegedly used to arrange the meeting, led to an additional charge of possession of an instrument used to commit a crime.

No comment from the 49ers; NFL investigating the incident

According to authorities, York is said to have responded to an online ad and agreed to pay $140 for sexual services. However, the supposed sex worker was actually part of an undercover police operation.

When York arrived at the agreed-upon meeting place in a trailer park, he was arrested. His cell phone, which was allegedly used to arrange the meeting, led to an additional charge of possession of an instrument used to commit a crime.

York was originally charged with soliciting prostitution. This charge was later reduced to disturbing the peace. York entered a “no contest” plea to this charge and another minor offense.

In doing so, he did not dispute the charges but also did not explicitly plead guilty. The court imposed a total fine of $1,150.

NFL Launches Investigation

The San Francisco 49ers stated that this was a legal matter that has since been resolved and that the club would not be issuing any further comments.

The NFL is looking into the incident and intends to review the case in accordance with its code of conduct. “We’re looking into the matter closely, and if there’s anything to announce, we’ll do so.”

In the past, there have been several instances of team owners being penalized. For example, the late Jim Irsay of the Indianapolis Colts was once penalized for driving under the influence.
