NFL Week 13: Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeat Falcons, St. Brown gives Lions first win

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue their winning streak against the Atlanta Falcons. Amon Ra St. Brown secures the first win for the Detroit Lions. The Indianapolis Colts have no trouble with the Houston Texans. ran summarises the 7 p.m. games.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons 30:17

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won their third game in a row. The first drive of the Buccaneers resulted in a touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Leonard Fournette. Brady had a good first half with a total of three touchdown passes until he missed a pick six shortly before the break. This shrank Tampa Bay’s lead to 20:17.

Shortly before the end of the third period, Brady threw a touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski for the second time, extending the lead to 27:17. In total, the quarterback had 368 passing yards. His favourite receiving station was Chris Godwin, who recorded 143 receiving yards.

On defence, Ndamukong Suh and Vita Vea each had two sacks and two tackles for loss. Matt Ryan, the playmaker of the Falcons, came to 297 passing yards, however, remained without a touchdown.

Tampa Bay has a record of nine wins and three losses. Atlanta’s record is 5-7.A notable side note: Brady has faced the Falcons ten times in his career and has won all of the games.

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions 27-29

The Lions’ drought is over: German wide receiver Amon Ra St. Brown provided Detroit’s first win of the season with his first touchdown pass. In total, the rookie caught passes for 86 yards in this game.

The Vikings conceded 20 points in the second quarter and thus went into halftime with a 6:20 deficit. Twelve minutes before the end of the game Minnesota came back to 21:23. However, the two-point conversion failed.

The final phase was a curious one. Standing at their own 28-yard line, the Lions played their fourth try with one yard left. Here quarterback Jared Goff (296 YDS, 3 TD) lost a fumble, so that the Vikings could turn the game with a touchdown.

But that was not the end of the game. The Lions had just under two minutes left to secure their first victory. On the last play of the game, Goff threw a touchdown pass to Amon Ra St. Brown.

Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans 31:0

The Indianapolis Colts had no problems against the Houston Texans. The man of the match was running back Jonathan Taylor, who ran for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Carson Wentz did not play spectacularly, but he played flawlessly. He completed 16 of his 22 passes for 158 yards, threw one touchdown pass and did not throw an interception.

The Colts’ defence was also outstanding, not allowing a single point. Al-Quadin Muhammad and Kemoko Turay were particularly noticeable with two sacks and two tackles for loss each. Tyrod Taylor and Davis Mills, the Texans’ two quarterbacks, combined for just 94 passing yards. The Colts are 7-6, the Texans 2-10.

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets 33:18

Philadelphia Eagles have come out on top against the New York Jets. Backup quarterback Gardner Minshew turned in a decent game with 242 passing yards and two touchdown passes. Dallas Goedert caught passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Miles Sanders was also particularly effective with 120 rushing yards.

New York relied mainly on the passing game. Zach Wilson completed 23 of his 38 pass attempts for 226 passing yards and two touchdowns, but also threw one interception.

Arizona Cardinals at Chicago Bears 33:22

The Arizona Cardinals become the first team in the NFL to celebrate their tenth win of the season. Quarterback Kyler Murray returned from injury and was especially effective running the ball. He ran for 59 yards and two touchdowns and also recorded 123 passing yards and two touchdown passes. The latter were caught by James Conner and DeAndre Hopkins.

The big unlucky one for the Bears was Andy Dalton. The quarterback did record 229 passing yards and two touchdown passes, but threw four interceptions. The Bears stand at a 4-8 record as a result of the loss.

New York Giants at Miami Dolphins 9:20

The Miami Dolphins won their fifth straight game to improve their record to 6-7. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa continued his strong form of recent weeks, throwing for 244 yards and two touchdowns. Jaylen Waddle was the most effective receiver with 90 passing yards. On defence, Jaelan Phillips was particularly eye-catching with two sacks and two tackles for loss.

Mike Glennon replaced injured quarterback Daniel Jones for the New York Giants, completing 23 of his 44 pass attempts for 187 yards, but did not throw a touchdown pass and recorded an interception. Only kicker Graham Gano provided points. The Giants have four wins and eight losses.
