NFL: Buffalo Bills on course for playoffs – Cincinnati Bengals fall short

In Week 16, the Buffalo Bills have notched up an important win. The Pittsburgh Steelers were also successful

The Buffalo Bills have scored an important last-second win in the tight NFL playoff race.

Quarterback Josh Allen’s team won 24-22 against the Los Angeles Chargers thanks to a field goal in the final minute and thus has a good chance of reaching the knockout round. The Bills now have nine wins and six defeats.

The Chargers, who fired both head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco after last week’s 21-63 loss, finally lost their last chance to make the playoffs. Following the loss of quarterback Justin Herbert (broken index finger), the team now has a 5-10 record and also squandered an early 10-0 lead on Saturday night.

The Pittsburgh Steelers took a different approach with a commanding 34-11 win over their division rivals Cincinnati Bengals, who were also shorthanded.

The Steelers already led 24:0 at the break, keeping their playoff hopes alive and drawing level with the Bengals (both 8:7).

Cincinnati, however, has been without star quarterback Joe Burrow for several weeks. The 27-year-old’s season has ended prematurely once again after injuring his wrist in November.

For the Steelers, young wide receiver George Pickens excelled on Saturday with a strong 195 yards and two touchdowns.
