NFL – Week 11: Detroit Lions with mega comeback – Houston Texans take down Arizona Cardinals

On the eleventh game day, the Houston Texans win against the Arizona Cardinals. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars roll over the Tennessee Titans. The early games from Sunday at a glance

Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions 26:31

The Chicago Bears were on the verge of a surprise, but couldn’t turn the game in their favor. The Lions scored 17 of their 31 points in the fourth quarter. Head coach Dan Campbell’s team scored touchdowns with just under three minutes and 30 seconds to go. Partly because quarterback Jared Goff shook off a very weak start to the game and was able to move the ball down the field in several drives in the fourth quarter.

The veteran threw for 236 passing yards and two touchdowns, but three of his passes were intercepted. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown turned eight catches into 77 yards and a touchdown.

On the other side, Bears quarterback Justin Field, coming back from injury, collected just over 100 rushing yards, 169 passing yards and a touchdown. In the passing game, he often found D.J. Moore, who turned seven catches into 96 yards and a touchdown.

The Bears are now 3-8, while the Lions have an 8-2 record.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns 10-13

In a defensive battle, the Cleveland Browns picked up an important win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, replacing the injured Deshaun Watson, moved the ball for the most part with moderate success in the short passing game. He completed 24 of his 42 passes for 165 yards and recorded one interception. The running game didn’t really get going either, with the Browns failing to break 100 rushing yards.

But the Steelers also showed few signs of life offensively. Kenny Pickett collected 14 completions and 93 passing yards. In the run game, Jaylen Warren was able to draw attention to himself with many good actions. The youngster accumulated 129 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Browns kicker Dustin Hopkins decided the game with his field goal shortly before the end. The Browns improve their record to 7-3, the Steelers are now 6-4

Los Angeles Chargers @ Green Bay Packers 20:23

The Green Bay Packers plunge the Los Angeles Chargers further into crisis. Head coach Brandon Staley’s seat is likely to get warmer and warmer. Also because the Chargers once again made too many mistakes.

Tight end Donald Parham Jr. let a pass slip through his hands on the fourth attempt and Keenan Allen was unable to hold on to a potential touchdown on a third attempt. Quarterback Justin Herbert played well, catching 21 of his 36 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns.

The Chargers were also without Joey Bosa early in the game, who was carted to the catacombs with a foot injury.

The Packers also had to contend with injuries. Running back Aaron Jones suffered a knee injury and was unable to play. Head coach Matt LaFleur found other ways to get the running game going and had some effective plays in his quiver.

For example, wide receiver Jayden Reed scored a 32-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Jordan Love covered a total of ten different players and completed 27 of his 40 passes for 322 yards and two touchdowns. Defensive tackle Kenny Clark was the hero of the day, thwarting a Chargers pass attempt on fourth down.

The Packers improve their record to 4-6 and draw even with the Chargers.

Las Vegas Raiders @ Miami Dolphins 13:20

Head coach Antonio Pierce suffered the first loss of his young head coaching career. In an unexpectedly defensive game, both teams scored a total of just six points in the second half.

Rookie Aidan O’Connell (271 passing yards, one touchdown, three interceptions) struggled for long stretches against a good Dolphins defense that worked a lot with blitz formations and rotating coverages. Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey collected two interceptions, one of them just before the end.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins offense looked much better on the stat sheet, with Tua Tagovailoa completing 28 of his 39 passes for 325 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, but the Dolphins also recorded two fumbles and failed on a fourth down attempt. As always, Tyreek Hill, who had to take a break due to injury, provided the highlights. The receiver collected ten catches, 146 yards and a touchdown.

The Dolphins are now 7-3, the Raiders are 5-6.

New York Giants @ Washington Commanders 31:19

The New York Giants send an important sign of life! Quarterback Tommy DeVito had a good day at work, completing 18 of his 26 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns. The youngster did rack up nine sacks, but often found enough gaps in the Giants defense.

The Washington Commanders’ passing game was less effective. Quarterback Sam Howell (255 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions) never really got into his stride against a good Giants defense. The Commanders also recorded three fumbles.

The Giants improve their record to 3-8, while the Commanders slip to 4-7.

Dallas Cowboys @ Carolina Panthers 33:10

The Dallas Cowboys have lived up to their role as favorites. Head coach Mike McCarthy’s team hardly gave the Carolina Panthers a chance.

The offense led by quarterback Dak Prescott (189 passing yards and two touchdowns) was able to move the ball through the air and on the ground. Against the Panthers, the defense was once again able to provide highlights. It put pressure on Panthers quarterback Bryce Young on several occasions, while cornerback DaRon Bland carried an interception into the end zone – his fourth pick six of the current season.

Meanwhile, the air is getting thinner and thinner for Frank Reich, head coach of the Panthers. The offense once again found little rhythm and the defense seemed overwhelmed for long stretches. Veteran Adam Thielen remains one of the positive surprises of this season. The experienced wide receiver caught eight passes for 74 yards. On several occasions, he was the target on fourth down attempts and was able to pick up another first down.

It was the seventh win in ten games for the Cowboys, while the Panthers now have nine defeats in ten games.

Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars 14:34

In the division duel, the Jacksonville Jaguars were able to pull off a commanding victory. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence played hard-nosed behind a good offensive line. The first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft completed 24 of his 32 passes for 262 yards and two touchdowns. He was a particularly frequent target for wide receiver Calvin Ridley, who caught 103 yards and two touchdowns.

The Titans relied heavily on their running game at the start, but found few gaps in the Jags defense. Running back Derrick Henry never really got going. He only recorded 38 yards. In the second half, rookie quarterback Will Levis at least put in a few pinpricks.

The youngster found a target with 13 of his 17 passes and scored two touchdowns. Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons provided a highlight, catching a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Jaguars now have a 7-3 record, while the Titans are 3-7.

Arizona Cardinals @ Houston Texans 16:21

The Houston Texans’ form curve continues to point steeply upwards. Head coach DeMeco Ryans’ team defeated the Arizona Cardinals in a hard-fought game.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud once again showed his class in several situations, but he also made a few mistakes. 336 passing yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions were on his work record at the end of the day. Rookie Tank Dell caught eight passes for 149 yards and a touchdown.

The Texans’ offensive line regularly blocked gaps for running back Devin Singletary. The offseason signing from the Buffalo Bills amassed 112 yards and a touchdown.

The Texans defense had its problems with a gutsy Kyler Murray (20/30 for 214 yards, a touchdown and an interception), but was able to collect two sacks, an interception and numerous pass deflections.

It was the Cardinals’ ninth loss in eleven games, while the Texans are knocking on the door of the playoffs with a 6-4 record.
