Green Bay Packers miss playoffs after loss to Detroit Lions – Seahawks benefit

The Green Bay Packers have missed out on the play-offs after losing to the Detroit Lions – allowing the Seattle Seahawks to make the post-season earlier by beating the Los Angeles Rams.

The Green Bay Packers missed out on the playoffs after losing 16-20 to the Detroit Lions in the Sunday Night Game – by doing so, the Seattle Seahawks made it to the postseason earlier by beating the Los Angeles Rams 19-16.

Green Bay would have needed a win over the Lions at home to Lambeau Field to make the playoffs, but star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, among others, failed to hold his nerve on the night.

Rodgers’ last pass intercepted

Of all things, Rodgers made an interception on Kerby Joseph on his last pass of the season and possibly last pass ever for the Packers. Even before that, the veteran fired several questionable passes in the direction of his receivers, many of which went nowhere. Rodgers completed 17 of his 27 passes.

Everything important about the NFL playoffs

While the first half was all field goals (halftime score 9-6 Lions), the third and fourth quarters saw touchdowns as well.

Ex-Packers Williams is the match-winner

Ex-Packers running back Jamaal Williams of all people scored two touchdowns for Detroit to eliminate the Packers from the playoff race.

Allen Lazard’s touchdown in the third quarter wasn’t enough for the Packers. With that, the Lions accomplished exactly what head coach Dan Campbell told “NBC” they would: “Our goal is to make sure they don’t get in either.”

In the end, the Lions also missed the playoffs. The Seattle Seahawks, on the other hand, did make it and will now play the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card.
