Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs 10:36
The Kansas City Chiefs qualified early for the playoffs with an emphatic win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Chiefs made things clear already in the first half of the game. The first four offensive plays all led to points – three times by touchdown, once by field goal.
The Steelers took a risk early on and played their fourth try in their own half shortly before halftime – to no avail. Kansas City could not capitalise, however, as kicker Elliott Fry missed a 39-yard field goal.
The hosts went into the break with a 23-0 lead. After that, the victory was no longer in danger. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had 258 passing yards and three touchdown passes. Byron Pringle caught two touchdown passes.
Steelers passer Ben Roethlisberger recorded 159 passing yards and one touchdown pass, but also committed two turnovers.
Chicago Bears at Seattle Seahawks 25:24
After entering the final quarter trailing 14-24, the Chicago Bears turned it around against the Seattle Seahawks. Quarterback Nick Foles delivered a decent game with 250 passing yards and a touchdown pass. David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert also each scored a touchdown.
Russell Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks’ playmaker, threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Rashaad Penny was very effective with 135 rushing yards and a touchdown. Seattle’s defeat, however, has consequences: They lost their last theoretical chance to make the playoffs.
Denver Broncos at Las Vegas Raiders 13:17
The Las Vegas Raiders narrowly edged out the Denver Broncos as the defence allowed no points in the second half of the game. Quarterback Derek Carr threw for 201 yards and a touchdown, but also committed two turnovers. Running back Josh Jacobs proved to be very effective with 129 rushing yards, but also caused a fumble and a turnover.
But the Broncos were unable to capitalise. Quarterback Drew Lock only managed 153 passing yards. The running game was practically non-existent, gaining a measly 18 yards.
