Devon Allen, new wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles, just missed a new world record in the 110m hurdles. At the “NYC Grand Prix” he finished his race in just 12.84 seconds.
Munich – Does the NFL have a new fastest player?
It seems so, because Devon Allen, who will play as a wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles next season, just missed a new world record.
At the “NYC Grand Prix”, the 27-year-old ran the 110m hurdles in 12.84 seconds – the third fastest time in history. The world record is 12.80 seconds, set in 2012 by Aries Merritt. Allen even left Olympic silver medallist Grant Holloway behind, who finished the race in 13.06 seconds.
According to his own statement, Allen could have set a new world record: “I thought I could break the record today. Now I have to wait for another race.” Allen plans to compete at the U.S. Championships (June 23-26) and the World Championships (July 15-24).
Devon Allen played college football
The 27-year-old had impressed scouts at a pro day at Oregon and was subsequently signed by the Eagles. Allen played his last football game in 2016, as a player for the Oregon Ducks. In his college career, he caught 54 passes for a total of 919 yards as well as eight touchdowns.
Eagles WR Devon Allen ran a 12.84 in the 110m Hurdles.
That’s the 3rd fastest time ever – just .04 shy of the World Record.
