Tom Brady is outclassed by rookie Brock Purdy, Chiefs defeat Broncos

Tom Brady has a very weak game against the San Francisco 49ers. The Seattle Seahawks have to cope with a bitter setback. And the Kansas City Chiefs are back on the winning track.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers 7:35

Tom Brady was really shown up by 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, who played his first NFL game as a starter. The “Mr. Irrelevant” of the 2022 NFL Draft was at his best in front of his family, completing 16 of his 21 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns, and even getting into the end zone himself once. Brady threw for 253 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions;

The 49ers dominated the game from the start and led 21-0 midway through the second quarter, but suffered a setback five minutes before halftime when running back Deebo Samuel suffered an ankle injury on a fumble and had to be pulled from the game.

This was San Francisco’s sixth straight win, bringing their record to nine wins and five losses. Tampa Bay, on the other hand, has a negative record at 6-7 with the loss, but still lead the NFC South.

Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos 34-28

The Kansas City Chiefs have found their way back to winning ways after the previous week’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. With the 34:28 against the Denver Broncos, they now have a record of 10-3 and are almost certain to make the playoffs.

Patrick Mahomes had a very mixed game. The quarterback threw for 352 passing yards and three touchdowns, but he also had three interceptions. Jerick McKinnon was one of the Chiefs’ most eye-catching players, catching passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns. The defence also played a big part in the win with six sacks.

Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson recorded 247 yards, three touchdown passes and an interception, but later had to be taken out of the game because of a suspected concussion. Denver has now lost five games in a row and, with a record of 3-10, also has no mathematical chance of making the playoffs.

Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks 30:24

The Seattle Seahawks suffered a bitter setback in their battle for the playoffs. With the loss to the Carolina Panthers, they have now lost three of their last four games and deteriorated to a record of 7-6. “I have the feeling the Seahawks have been relegated by the performance since the NFL Germany game,” said ran expert Werner.

The Seahawks got as close as six points with 16 seconds left in the game. However, the ensuing onside kick failed. Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns, but he also had two interceptions. Panthers playmaker Sam Darnold was by no means outstanding with 120 passing yards and one touchdown pass. But the running game was very effective with 223 yards and two touchdowns.

Carolina has now won three of its last four games and is back in contention for the playoffs. The 5-8 record doesn’t sound particularly promising, to be sure. However, no team in the weak NFC South has won more than six games so far. Tampa Bay leads the division
