NFL: Arizona Cardinals win narrowly against Dallas Cowboys, St. Brown comes up trumps with Detroit Lions

The Cowboys’ comeback against the Cardinals remains unrewarded. German Amon-Ra St. Brown loses with the Lions against the Seahawks, but still delivers a fantastic game. ran summarises the 10 p.m. games.

Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys 25:22

The Arizona Cardinals got a win at the Dallas Cowboys after three straight losses.

In the first quarter, only a Cardinals field goal provided points. However, a touchdown pass from Kyler Murray (263 passing yards) to Antoine Wesley put Arizona up 10-0.

But the Cowboys also found their game in the following drive. Quarterback Dak Prescott picked off Michael Gallup in the end zone. Bitterly for Dallas, the pass receiver suffered a knee injury on this catch and had to be taken out of the game.

Arizona used the remaining 1:25 minutes before the break to get within field-goal distance once again and increase the halftime score to 13-7.

Arizona was also effective in the third period, completing the first drive with a touchdown. Murray played a high pass into the end zone. Once again Wesley was the target. However, the subsequent two-point conversion was unsuccessful.

While the Cowboys failed to gain a single yard in the following drive, the Arizona offence continued to be difficult to stop. Murray took his attack all the way to the opposing 8-yard line, from where kicker Matt Prater made it 22-7.

It was not until the start of the fourth period that the Cowboys found their game again. Prescott threw a touchdown pass to Ced Wilson to cut the deficit to 14-22.

On the Cowboys’ next offensive drive, however, Prescott fumbled, allowing the Cardinals to take advantage of good field position and score a field goal to make it 25-14.

Undeterred, Dallas continued to play catch-up: a touchdown pass from Prescott to Amari Cooper, then the two-point conversion, and suddenly Dallas was within three points.

The Cardinals didn’t give the ball back and let the clock run down.

Houston Texans at San Francisco 49ers 7:23

Good news for Mark Nzeocha: The German linebacker made his season debut against the Houston Texans, contributed two tackles on special teams and in return celebrated an important victory with the 49ers against the Houston Texans.

Quarterback Trey Lance threw for 249 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Running back Eli Mitchell was very effective, gaining a total of 130 yards and a touchdown. Texans playmaker Davis Mills recorded 163 passing yards, one touchdown pass and one interception.

Detroit Lions at Seattle Seahawks 29:51

Even though the Detroit Lions lost significantly against the Seattle Seahawks, German wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was one of the best players on the field. His record: 134 yards of space gained, two touchdowns and a catch for a successful two-point conversion.

Otherwise, however, Seattle was more effective. Quarterback Russell Wilson led the Seahawks to victory with 236 passing yards and four touchdown passes. Rashaad Penny ran for a strong 170 yards and two touchdowns.

Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers 13:34

Justin Herbert threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns in the Los Angeles Chargers’ win over the Denver Broncos. In doing so, he kept his team’s playoff hopes alive. Running back Austin Ekeler was his most effective weapon, gaining 112 yards in space and a touchdown.

Broncos quarterback Drew Lock turned in a solid game with 245 passing yards and a touchdown pass. The running game, however, only produced 83 yards. The Broncos now have no chance at the playoffs.

Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints 10:18

Cameron Jordan made life difficult for Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold (132 passing yards, 1 interception). The defensive end of the New Orleans Saints recorded a strong 3.5 sacks and 3 tackles for loss. In total, the defence got seven sacks.

Saints quarterback Taysom Hill finished the game with 222 passing yards and a touchdown pass.
