Thanks to an outstanding Josh Allen, the Buffalo Bills defeat the New England Patriots. The Buffalo Bills send their division rival home with a score of 47:17.
Munich/Buffalo – Thanks to an outstanding Josh Allen (five touchdowns, 308 yards), the Buffalo Bills pulled off a well-deserved victory in the second Wild Card game of the playoffs.
Despite freezing temperatures, the Buffalo Bills started the game like fire. After an almost perfect first drive, in which Josh Allen himself ran for 41 yards and finally found his tight end Dawson Knox in the back corner of the end zone, the Bills quickly took a 7-0 lead.
The first plays on the New England Patriots’ side were much worse. Brandon Bolden dropped a ball that would have meant a big gain in space. In addition, a Micah Hyde intercepted a deep pass attempt by Mac Jones and regained possession of the ball for the Bills.
Like a rush: Buffalo overruns the Patriots
The ensuing drive resembled the hosts’ first in many ways. Allen found his receivers as he wanted. Just before the end of the first quarter, Knox again caught a pass from his quarterback in the Patriots’ end zone and extended the Bills’ lead.
After a quick three-and-out by the Patriots, the Bills got the ball back. And again, Allen did what he did best in this game. He led his team down the field, running back Devin Singletary gilded the drive with a touchdown run. The only downer for the Bills was that the Patriots’ special team was able to block the subsequent PAT.
After another touchdown by Singletary and a field goal by Nick Folk, the game went into halftime with a score of 27:3.
The third quarter started like the first. The Bills intercepted another Mac Jones pass and scored the next touchdown through Emmanuel Sanders. Then the Patriots, in the person of Kendrick Bourne, found the Bills’ end zone for the first time. But the Bills answered immediately and restored the old distance. Josh Allen to Gabriel Davis: 40:10.
To make the game perfect, Josh Allen even threw a touchdown to his O-lineman Tommy Doyle. A second touchdown by Kendrick Bourne was no more than cosmetic for the Patriots.
With a 47:17 victory, the Bills advance to the Divisional Round. For the New England Patriots and the German professional Jakob Johnson, the season is over.
