After the failed trade of Maxx Crosby, Ravens president Sashi Brown comments on the issue
The failed trade of Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Baltimore Ravens caused quite a stir in the NFL in mid-March. Now Ravens president Sashi Brown has also commented on the issue at a press conference during the league’s annual meeting in Arizona.
Baltimore had agreed to give the Raiders a package of two first-round picks for Crosby, but backed out of the deal after failing a medical.
While a recent report suggested that concerns about a degenerative condition in Crosby’s knee led to the decision, Brown declined to comment when asked.
So they will “handle all of this with the due discretion, respect and dignity that it deserves.”
Ravens president does not believe in image problems
The president also stated that he does not believe the failed trade could lead to an image problem for the Ravens in dealing with other franchises.
“We maintain strong and long-standing relationships throughout the league,” Brown was quoted as saying by “The Athletic”.
“We’ve always emphasized the importance of doing things the right way. We will continue to do so, and we are aware that this matter makes headlines because of its profile and importance.“
And further: ”We are convinced that our relationships – even if it takes time to mend them – are based on people understanding who we are and what we stand for. Our team understands that too, but when it comes to high-profile deals and opportunities like this, it’s unfortunate that things like this sometimes happen. It’s not Maxx’s fault or ours or the Raiders’, it just happened that way.”
Instead of Crosby, the Ravens ended up signing Bengals star Trey Hendrickson.
