Titans star Derrick Henry has his contract rewritten – and becomes the highest-paid running back

Derrick Henry has his contract adjusted and now earns two million dollars more than before. This makes the Tennessee Titans star the highest paid running back in the league

Munich – Derrick Henry is making extra money for his last year with the Tennessee Titans.

The running back has rewritten his contract, which expires in 2023, and will earn two million dollars more next season than before.

In total, he will earn $14 million and become the highest-paid player at his position, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Derrick Henry: Contract extension likely imminent

Henry’s contract term, however, remains unchanged. According to Mike Florio of “Pro Football Talk”, however, nothing should stand in the way of an extension in general. The redistribution of the salary is mainly due to the Titans’ cap space.

Henry deserves a few extra dollars, though, having been one of the league’s best backs since 2019 and taking the rushing crown in both 2019 and 2020. Last season, however, he was out for half the season with a foot injury.

At 28, he’s looking to grab the rushing crown again this season and live up to his nickname “King Henry. “
