NFL: Green Bay Packers – Jordan Love speaks admiringly of mentor Aaron Rodgers: “Just a badass”

Jordan Love owes his rise to fame in part to his former mentor Aaron Rodgers. The 26-year-old has now explained what sets the NFL legend apart and what he learned during their years together.

The Green Bay Packers’ decision to draft Jordan Love in the first round in 2020 sparked controversial discussions. After all, the franchise already had a star quarterback in Aaron Rodgers.

He had just led the Packers to an outstanding season, which is why many considered it a waste to select Love.

Critics felt vindicated when Love only played ten NFL games in his first three seasons – one of which was as a starter – but the 26-year-old learned a lot from his experienced mentor Aaron Rodgers.

The veteran was named MVP in 2020 and 2021, but turned his back on the Packers before the 2023 season. Love then established himself as a regular player and quickly showed why he was selected by the franchise back then.

Love admires Rodgers: “Just a badass teammate.”

Rodgers’ successor spoke with admiration and a dose of awe about his mentor.

“His style of play, the way he plays the game, the intensity with which he approaches everything, the training, the walkthroughs, in the meeting rooms. He’s just a badass teammate,“ Love explained on the show ”This is Football“ with Kevin Clark.

”Obviously, he goes out there and does what he has to do and has built a pretty, pretty good career for himself,” he continued.

That’s another reason why Love has been able to learn so much from Rodgers, now 41, during their three years together.

“Oh man, there’s so much,” Love began. “I think it’s all the subtle things Rodgers does at the line of scrimmage when he’s watching the defense, all the different ways he tries to confuse the defense and play games, and of course the way he watches the sideline to see who’s coming in and out and tries to get open plays out of it,” the quarterback listed. Without Rodgers, he “probably never would have figured out some of those things.”

Love well established with the Packers: Rodgers opens a new chapter

Love is now entering his sixth season in the NFL and his third as a starter and key contributor. In the last two years, he has thrown for more than 7,000 yards, scored 62 touchdowns and had 22 interceptions.

Rodgers will return to Pittsburgh on October 26 when the Packers face the Steelers. The veteran is starting a new chapter here after two moderately successful years with the New York Jets.

The NFL legend previously played for the Green Bay Packers for an incredible 17 years. In 2010, he won the Super Bowl and was named Super Bowl MVP.
