Marcel Dabo came to the NFL as part of the Pathway Program. The German is currently on the Indianapolis Colts’ practice squad. In this interview, the cornerback talks about his NFL chances and what he has to do to get there. Events such as the Super Bowl’s Opening Media Night provide extra motivation
Question: “Marcel, Opening Media Night in Vegas, what do you think of everything here?”
Marcel Dabo: “It’s incredible. I was in Phoenix last year and that was already nice, but here in the stadium it’s obviously even more different. The backdrop, seeing how the stadium is and the whole surrounding is unbelievable. I’m really hyped for the game. I think it’s going to be a really good game. It’s going to be a great week. “
Question: When you say you’re hyped and see everything around it, how much do you start dreaming as a Pathway Program player?
Marcel Dabo: “Completely. For me as a player, it’s always difficult to get to events like this. Because right now I think I should be here and not on vacation. One eye cries, one eye laughs. I just soak up the whole event and try to get the most out of it. Just take it as fuel for when I’m allowed to be here.”
Question: How do you see your own development and what do you think is in it for you next season?
Marcel Dabo: “I always say that anything is possible. Everything is always possible in the NFL. But the margin for success is very, very small. You’re always a few good situations away from a completely different career. I just have to prepare every day and work hard on myself. They always say that luck is when opportunity meets preparation and I believe in that very strongly. I don’t just believe that luck comes to you. Rather, I believe that if you prepare all the time and the opportunity comes at some point, you can be successful. “
