Seattle Seahawks take down Arizona Cardinals – Kansas City Chiefs beat Los Angeles Chargers

The Seattle Seahawks prevail over the Arizona Cardinals on the seventh day of NFL play. The Los Angeles Chargers are defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs. The games of the late Sunday window at a glance.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Los Angeles Rams 17:24

Matthew Stafford and the Rams offense provided a number of highlight plays, while at the same time often lacking consistency from play to play. For example, Stafford amassed 231 yards but completed only 14 of his 29 passes.

Rams kicker Brett Maher missed two field goal attempts (from over 50 yards each).

Less spectacular but more consistent was the Steelers offense, which scored a full 14 points in the fourth quarter to decide the game in favor of Head Coach Mike Tomlin’s team.

Quarterback Kenny Pickett completed 17 of his 25 passes for 230 yards. He especially frequently found George Pickens (five catches and 107 yards) or the recovering Diontae Johnson (five catches and 79 yards). The running game led by running backs Jaylen Warren and Najee Harris collected 86 yards.

In a tightly contested divisional duel, the Seahawks picked up their next win. Head coach Pete Carroll’s offense relied on a run-heavy approach, with running back Kenneth Walker carrying the football 26 times and picking up 105 yards of space.

Through the air, quarterback Geno Smith completed 18 of his 24 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns. However, he did suffer an interception and a fumble. Rookie receiver Jake Bobo made a fantastic touchdown catch.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, struggled mightily with the Seahawks defense. Quarterback Joshua Dobbs suffered four sacks and eight hits and could do little damage through the air. The 127 cumulative rushing yards were also not enough to keep up with the Seahawks.

Green Bay Packers @ Denver Broncos 17:19

After the bye week, the Packers needed a half to shake off the rust. Head Coach Matt LaFleur’s team had to settle for a 9-0 deficit at halftime. In the second period, the offense led by quarterback Jordan Love (21/31 for 180 yards, two touchdowns and one interception) got going much better.

The Packers provided two curious touchdown catches at the same time. Romeo Doubs wrestled cornerback Patrick Surtain for the football, both had their hands on the ball, in which case the offensive player gets the catch award. On the second touchdown, Love’s pass slipped through the hands of the intended pass receiver, with Jayden Reed behind him making a quick-witted catch.

However, the surge was not enough. The Broncos ultimately scraped to their second win of the season. Quarterback Russell Wilson played spectacularly unspectacular. The former Seahawks quarterback moved in the short passing game for long stretches, 20 of his 28 passes found a teammate. He amassed 194 yards and a touchdown through the air.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs 17:31

In an open exchange of blows, the Chiefs were able to pull away from the Chargers. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had a great day. He completed 32 of his 42 passes. At the end of the game, he had 424 yards and four touchdowns on his work record. One interception proved to be the hair in the soup.

The two-time MVP served a total of ten different receivers. Travis Kelce in particular stood out in the passing game. The tight end converted 12 catches into 179 yards and a touchdown.

The Chargers offense got off to a good start in the divisional duel, but couldn’t keep up in the second half and didn’t score. An increasingly potent Chiefs pass rush and better coverage in pass defense made life difficult for quarterback Justin Herbert in the second period.

The former first-round pick found a touchdown on 17 of his 30 passes. He threw for 259 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Herbert was forced into five sacks.
