The Chicago Bears had little trouble with the Seattle Seahawks, who had to do without their quarterback Drew Lock, in the opening game of Week 2 of the preseason and prevailed thanks to a strong first half. For the Hawks it is the second defeat.
Munich/Seattle – The Chicago Bears won their second preseason game and beat the Seattle Seahawks 27:11.
Bears quarterback Justin Fields completed five of his seven passes for 39 yards. The only touchdown pass of the game came from Trevor Siemian, who completed eight of his 15 passes for 48 yards. Pass rusher Nathan Peterman completed eight of 14 passes for 85 yards.
Drew Lock was absent due to a Corona infection
For the Seahawks, only Geno Smith had the opportunity to compete internally for the starting quarterback position. Drew Lock was absent due to a Corona infection. Smith completed ten of his 18 throws for 112 yards. Most of the time, however, Jacob Eason was on the field. 17 of his 35 passes were successful and brought a space gain of 141 yards.
The Bears were dominant especially in the first half of the game. Jake Tonges caught a touchdown pass to give them a 10-0 lead.
Cade Johnson makes a momentous mistake on a punt
The biggest mistake of the game was made by Seahawks returner Cade Johnson, who let a punt slip through his hands just outside his own end zone. Elijah Hicks was able to pick up the ball and score the touchdown to give the Seahawks a 17-0 halftime lead.
At the start of the third quarter, Darrynton Evans got into the end zone, making it 24-0 after the converted extra point. Darwin Thompson scored the Seahawks’ only touchdown shortly before the end of the game. Seattle thus lost the first two preseason games.
