Mason Crosby has announced his retirement. The kicker’s impressive NFL career has come to an end.
Mason Crosby announced his retirement on his own radio show, “The Mason Crosby Show” on “105.7 The Fan”. The long-time Green Bay Packers kicker is thus making official what he has been carrying around with him for a long time.
“I think I’ve been putting this off for two years,” Crosby said. ”I’ve been pushing it out of my mind. Today I’m officially announcing that I’m retiring from the NFL.”
Crosby is the top scorer in Packers history with 1,918 points. That’s nearly 900 points more than second-place Ryan Longwell. He is also 11th in NFL history. Crosby left Green Bay after the 2022 season. He played three games for the New York Giants in the 2023 season.
“My 17 seasons in the NFL exceeded all of my childhood dreams and hopes,” the 40-year-old explained. ”I couldn’t be more grateful to have spent 16 of those years with the Packers. When I was selected in the sixth round of the 2007 draft, I could never have written this script of my career.”
In an impressive 16 seasons with Green Bay, Crosby played in 258 games and made 395 field goals on 485 attempts. He won a Super Bowl with the Packers in the 2010 season.
