NFL: German coach takes part in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Coaching Academy

German football coach Peter Daletzki from the Düsseldorf Panthers is getting a taste of the NFL. He is taking part in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers National Coaching Academy.

For years now, the “International Player Pathway Program” has offered talented football players outside the USA the chance to train under NFL conditions and recommend themselves for an NFL team.

Now there is also a new program for young coaches – and a German is taking part.

Peter Daletzki, who coaches the U20 Düsseldorf Panthers, is one of 25 finalists in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers National Coaching Academy. There were around 1500 applicants in total. The program is designed to enable talented coaches to enter the NFL.

22 of the 25 finalists are US-Americans. Of the 25 selected, 15 are currently coaching college football, while six are coaching at the high school level, three are coaching overseas and one is a Valuations and Modeling Manager.

In addition to Daletzki, there is also a Dane and a Brazilian. Five participants are female.

The Bucs National Coaching Academy was open to anyone interested in coaching who has spent three or more years coaching in a football program at the high school, college or semi-professional league level.

The course will take place May 6-12. In Tampa Bay during the rookie minicamp, finalists will participate in sessions, gain business insight, attend media training and sit in on video sessions with players.

“We created the Buccaneers National Coaching Academy to find qualified individuals seeking their first entry into the NFL. We want to provide them with a completely unique experience that will open new doors in their coaching careers,” said Buccaneers co-owner Darcie Glazer Kassewitz.

At the conclusion of the rookie minicamp, the coaching and front office staff will select five participants to transition into the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship for training camp and the preseason. This has been in place for over 30 years and has helped many coaches break into the NFL.
