Minnesota Vikings take down San Francisco 49ers with big fight

The Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers put up a great fight at the end of the seventh NFL game day, from which the Vikings emerge victorious in their own stadium.

The Monday Night Football game of the 7th NFL game day had a lot to offer in terms of suspense. In the end, there was only one score between the Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers. With 22:17 the Vikings defeated the 49ers and plunged the guests into a small crisis.

In contrast to his reputation, Kirk Cousins showed a good performance in the prime-time game. He completed 35 of his 45 passes, gaining 378 yards and two touchdowns. However, he also committed a turnover, Charvarius Ward intercepted a pass.

The Vikings’ running game continues to struggle, however. Alexander Mattison ran eight times for 39 yards, Cam Akers ten times for 31 yards. Brandon Powell also had one rush for a five yard gain in space.

In the absence of Justin Jefferson, rookie Jordan Addison was the match-winner. He collected 124 receiving yards and two touchdowns on seven caught balls, but in between he had to go out with injury.

The 49ers had a completely different story. Christian McCaffrey only managed 45 rushing yards on 15 attempts, Elijah Mitchell even lost a yard on his only run. The possibly game-deciding mistake was made by “CMC” when he lost a ball just before the end zone in the second quarter. Dean Lowry picked up the fumble.

The game decider: turnover in the opponent’s half

Long flawless performance this time by quarterback Brock Purdy, who looked bad in the loss to the Cleveland Browns in week six. Out of 29 balls, Purdy connected on 21, gaining 272 yards of space and a touchdown to McCaffrey. One of his three catches in the game (51 yards). However, deep in the fourth quarter, he made his second and third interceptions of the season on Camryn Bynum, the last in the potential game-winning drive.

While Deebo Samuel was inactive, tight end George Kittle did most of the work through the air. He was the 49ers’ top receiver with 78 yards on five catches.

It marks the second straight loss for the 49ers. Next week, Kyle Shanahan’s team faces the Cincinnati Bengals. The Minnesota Vikings await the Green Bay Packers in a divisional duel.
