NFL, Preseason Week 1: Late luck for Giants at Patriots – Ravens defeat Titans

The New York Giants can enjoy a late win in their 2022 preseason debut against the New England Patriots. The Baltimore Ravens, meanwhile, celebrate a win against the Tennessee Titans.

Munich/Foxborough – Good start into the new 2022 NFL season for the New York Giants. Head coach Brian Daboll’s team beat the New England Patriots 23-21 in the first preseason game of the new season.

The Giants benefited from a late field goal by Graham Gano. With the clock running out, he converted his kick from 24 yards and provided the decision at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

With three converted field goals and two successful extra points, the kicker was one of the guarantors of success for the visitors. The other points were scored by Antonio Williams with a two-yard touchdown run, and Richie James was delighted with a touchdown pass from quarterback Tyrod Taylor. The signal caller was on the field for the most of all snaps, while Daniel Jones played significantly less.

Patriots lose to Giants

For the hosts from New England, playmaker Mac Jones was not in action at all, instead Brian Hoyer and especially Bailey Zappe were used. Zappe had a 20-yard touchdown pass to Lil’Jordan Humphrey, but also had to accept an interception.

The other scores were provided by Kevin Harris with a run of three yards and Tyquan Thornton after a pass from Hoyer.

By the way, Matt Patricia and Joe Judge, who was fired by the Giants, were responsible for the Patriots’ playcalling. According to head coach Bill Belichick, it was an underdeveloped system.

Ravens beat Titans

The Baltimore Ravens, meanwhile, also enjoyed a victory. In their preseason premiere they beat the Tennessee Titans with 23:10.

A 4-yard run by Mike Davis, a touchdown by Shemar Bridges after a pass from Tyler Huntley and three field goals by Justin Tucker made the victory perfect. The Titans had only one rushing touchdown from Malik Willis and one field goal to counter that.

Huntley, meanwhile, was a convincing playmaker for the Ravens. He finished the first half with 16 of 18 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. Lamar Jackson, meanwhile, did not play. Titans star running back Derrick Henry and signal caller Ryan Tannehill also took a break.
