NFL London Game: New York Jets wake up too late against Atlanta Falcons

The first London NFL celebration of the 2021 season goes to the Atlanta Falcons with 27:20. Quarterback Matt Ryan’s team allows little for a long time against the New York Jets and decides the game after a final surge by the Wilson offence in the fourth quarter.

Munich – Over 62,000 football fans from the UK, Germany and across Europe made the pilgrimage to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday to attend the first London Game in two years.

The game between the New York Jets and the Atlanta Falcons did not promise the league’s top names in the run-up, but it should at least provide points and spectacular plays. Rookie tight end Kyle Pitts in particular caused a stir with a one-handed catch and his first career touchdown.

In general, it was the Atlanta Falcons who dominated the game from the beginning. While Matt Ryan put points on the scoreboard early with a field goal and two touchdowns by Pitts and Hayden Hurst, the Jets had to warm up first.

NFL London Game: Zach Wilson falters again

Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson was particularly weak at the start, throwing an interception and inaccurate and short passes. It was not until the second half that the “Gang Green” woke up and reduced the interim 0:17 to 17:20 thanks to two touchdowns by running backs Ty Johnson and Michael Carter.

It didn’t get much more exciting than that, however, as the Falcons gained important yards, minutes and the touchdown for the two-score game, especially through Cordarrelle Patterson.

A last field goal by the Jets with an unsuccessful onside kick resulted in the final score of 27:20. Atlanta improves to 2-3. The Jets, on the other hand, cannot build on their first win of the season and remain at the bottom of the AFC East at 1-4.
