NFL MVP 2025: Josh Allen named Most Valuable Player

Buffalo’s quarterback beats out his predecessor.

Missed the Super Bowl, but at least won the MVP award: Josh Allen has been named the NFL’s most valuable player for the first time.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback beat last year’s winner Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Jared Goff and the only non-quarterback Saquan Barkley.

Allen had finished the regular season with the Buffalo Bills as the divisional winner of the AFC East and second in the conference. He threw for 28 touchdowns with just 6 interceptions and ran for 12 touchdowns.

Allen beat Jackson with 27 first-place votes, 22 second-place votes and one third-place vote for a total of 383 points to Jackson’s 362.

In the playoffs, the Bills were defeated in the AFC Championship Game by the Kansas City Chiefs, who will face the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl in New Orleans on Sunday.

Philadelphia running back Saquon Barkley was named Offensive Player of the Year.

The NFL Honors event also announced the new members of the Hall of Fame, who will be inducted in Canton in August:

  • Jared Allen

  • Sterling Sharpe

  • Eric Allen

  • Antonio Gates
