New England Patriots: Martellus Bennett attacks ex-teammate Jimmy Garoppolo

On Devin and Jason McCourty’s podcast, Martellus Bennett called former teammate Jimmy Garoppolo a b***h and harshly criticised him. The background is an incident from the 2016 season.

Munich – Martellus Bennett has sharply criticised his former teammate Jimmy Garoppolo on Devin and Jason McCourty’s “Double Coverage” podcast.

The reason for this is an incident at the beginning of the 2016 season. Former Pats tight end Bennett explained that Garoppolo decided not to show up shortly before a game. The game was promptly lost: “He decided not to play just before the game. Jacoby (Brissett) came in, had an injured thumb himself and gave it his all. But Jimmy was just a b***h!”

The 2017 Super Bowl champion went even further, saying, “You can’t win with a b***h at quarterback.”

In his opinion, the agent of the now 49ers QB wanted to protect his player’s body. While that’s perfectly fine, Bennett said, the decision not to play could have been made by Garoppolo on Thursday, not Sunday.

In the 2016 season, Tom Brady was suspended for the first four games as a result of “Deflategate”.

With Garoppolo and Brissett, the Patriots won three of those games (and lost the one Bennett mentioned) and ended the season with Brady winning the Super Bowl against the Atlanta Falcons. In late October 2017, Garoppolo was traded to the San Francisco 49ers.
