The Miami Dolphins will face the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs on Sunday. It will be the third comparison this season, the second in Buffalo. As in the December duel, freezing temperatures are expected. A traditionally bad omen for the Dolphins.

The Miami Dolphins go into Sunday’s playoff duel with the Buffalo Bills as clear underdogs.

Not only do the Bills have the second-best record in the AFC, while Miami didn’t make the playoffs until Week 18 as the seventh seed. With quarterback Tua Tagovailoa out for good, the burden is on the shoulders of rookie Skylar Thompson. And to top it all off, there’s the weather curse.

Pretty much zero degrees Celsius is what the weather stations in Buffalo are expecting for Sunday. Nothing unusual for the Bills, but a bad omen for the sun-drenched Dolphins from Florida.

Miami Dolphins: Revenge for the snowstorm?

Since 2016, the Fins have not won a game when the thermometer read less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit. In total, there have been eight Dolphins-involved games with freezing temperatures during that period, according to “ESPN” statistics.

Four of those took place in Buffalo. The Dolphins lost by 25 points in 2018 and by as many as 30 in 2020.In Week 15 of this regular season, the Dolphins had it in their own hands for a long time to break the curse with a fit Tua, but a comeback in a snow flurry secured a late win for the Bills thanks to a Tyler Bass 25-yard field goal.

Before this game, head coach Mike McDaniel caused a stir with a shirt that read “I wish it was even colder”. A wish he was later to regret.

But even aside from the weather, Miami faces a tough task on Wild Card Weekend.
