A false start by Jason Kelce sparked controversy after the Monday night game between the Eagles and Seahawks. The center now admitted his mistake
A scene on Monday Night Football between the Eagles and Seahawks sparked heated discussion on social media: At 3 & inches from Seattle’s five-yard line, the referees penalized a false start by Eagles center Jason Kelce.
Replay shows Kelce moved the ball forward half a yard before the snap, drawing the side judge’s flag. The Eagles then had to settle for a field goal and ended up losing the game by a narrow margin of 17-20.

Unlike many fans, Kelce was not outraged after the game. On the contrary: the 36-year-old admitted that he had already been made aware of the offense by the referees in the past.
“They’ve been warning me for years. I used to have a tendency to do it, so they’ve definitely warned me before,” the six-time Pro Bowler admitted. “I have to be smarter, especially in this situation. “
The short distance to the first down was crucial, Kelce explained: “If you miss a whole yard, there’s probably no flag. But because it was so close, if I move the ball forward even a little bit, it gets called.”
After a strong start to the season, the Philadelphia Eagles (11-4) are currently experiencing a dip in form, losing their last three games against the 49ers, Cowboys and Seahawks. On Christmas Day, they will try to get back on track against the Giants.
