After Justyn Ross was arrested on Monday, the NFL has now placed the Chiefs wide receiver on the “Commissioner’s Exempt List.”
For the time being, 23-year-old Justyn Ross will no longer suit up for the Kansas City Chiefs. The NFL has placed the pass receiver on the “Exempt List”: players who land on that list continue to draw salary, but are not part of the official 53-man roster and thus are not allowed to play in games or practice.
Ross was arrested Monday on charges of domestic violence and property damage in Johnson County, Kansas. He returned to the Chiefs’ practice facility Wednesday and also practiced with the rest of the team Thursday before being placed on the Exempt List.
Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid expressed uncertainty about whether Ross will play again this season, “We’ll just let the process play out. That’s what this list is for,” Reid said at a press conference.
Ross was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022, but was out for the entire season due to injury. The receiver made his debut for the Chiefs this season – but has only managed three catches for 34 yards so far.
