Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love ‘grateful’ for years behind Aaron Rodgers

Jordan Love is the new starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. After three years behind Aaron Rodgers, the playmaker speaks emotionally about the “tough” time, but one for which he is nonetheless “thankful. “

At least since the contract extension of about 22 million dollars it is clear: The Green Bay Packers count on Jordan Love as a starting quarterback.

On Wednesday, Love made his first appearance as QB1 at Green Bay’s press podium. Of course, the press round was all about one thing: the past three years behind Aaron Rodgers as his representative.

Love emotional about “tough time “

“Obviously, when I got drafted here, I knew right away what the situation was,” Love said. “I also knew that my time would come first and that I would have to learn first.”

The 24-year-old certainly got emotional, though. “The hardest part was when he got the contract extension, I’ll admit that. I thought to myself ‘So and what do I do now?””

Giving up, however, was not an option for the Utah State alum. “I then did some soul-searching and told myself that I needed to perform strong now more than ever,” Love explains. “Whenever I get the chance, I’m going to take it, and who knows what will happen? “

Only words of praise for Rodgers

There’s no bad blood between Love and his predecessor Rodgers, however. Instead, the 24-year-old is grateful for his time as backup behind the four-time MVP. “I learned a lot from him. How he leads the booth, how he interacts with teammates, how he throws the ball, how he coaches,” he recalls. “That was incredibly valuable.”

Contrary to many expectations, the relationship between the two was quite good. There was also contact between the quarterbacks after the trade. “We wished each other well. And if I need help, I can always turn to him,” Love said. “I’m grateful for the time I got to spend with him. “

Love sees himself as “drastically” improved. “I obviously don’t have the experience on the field, but since 2020, I understand our offensive scheme better and better.”

Expectations will be high for Love as early as week one. But the highest expectations for him are probably for himself.
