NFL: Tom Brady explains trash talk attack against New Orleans Saints – “That was nothing”

Tom Brady had a bitter evening against the New Orleans Saints. In the process, he took out his frustrations not only on his tablet, but also on the opponents.

Munich – It was a used and emotional evening for Tom Brady. Against the New Orleans Saints, the otherwise so powerful Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offence just couldn’t get anything going, with the reigning champ losing the duel against the division rivals 9-0.

For the first time in 15 years, Brady failed to score, a disaster for the normally ambitious star quarterback. Several times the TV cameras clearly showed how much the 44-year-old was seething.

Following an interception in the final quarter, the “GOAT” ran up to Saints coach Dennis Allen and shouted “go fic*ck yourself” at him, according to US media. An incident that Brady played down rather badly after the game.

NFL: Tom Brady takes out frustration on tablet

“That was nothing, just football,” the signal-caller declared, with plenty of praise for the opponent: “They’re pretty good, they’ve got a good defence and they’re tough to play against. The team is super coached and has a lot of great players. They did a great job today.”

In these days when the slightest gesture towards the other team is punished with a taunting flag, the “just football” excuse shouldn’t go through too often in the NFL. Brady did get away without a penalty this time, but took out his frustration on the tablet as well.

During the game, he peppered his device in the corner on the bench and looked plenty annoyed with the evening.

Somewhere understandable: Brady had to do without some of his weapons in the offence and got to feel the circumstance more than clearly from the Saints defence. They were equally inept at trash talk and taunting.

NFL: Tom Brady keeps his smile

C.J. Gardner-Johnson reared up in front of the quarterback after a Brady fumble and flashed a big grin to show who was currently winning the division duel. The Bucs leader, although once again no flag was thrown, could still laugh.

He shouldn’t let that get away from him as the season progresses. After all, the Bucs are on track for the playoffs with a record of 10-4. The Saints are 7-7 and will have to fight.

Brady will certainly hope he doesn’t have to see Gardner-Johnson and Co. again after the sweep in the Regular Season.
