Cowboys kicker Brett Maher has a night to forget in the playoff game against the Buccaneers. Despite his failures, however, the franchise and head coach Mike McCarthy continue to stick by him
If the Dallas Cowboys had to rely on his points, they probably wouldn’t have made it to the Divisional Round.
Kicker Brett Maher missed four extra points in a row in the play-off duel against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – this had not happened to a kicker in the NFL since 1932.
Nevertheless, he does not have to fear for his job. Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy explained that the franchise still believes in the 33-year-old. He told US reporters that there was no consideration of using another kicker for the next play-off game against the San Francisco 49ers. “We will continue with him,” the head coach announced.

In addition, he explained Maher was at the practice facility on Tuesday to work out with the special teams coach.
The Cowboys won the game 31:14 – despite the many missed shots – and secured their place in the next round.
