NFL: Quarterback legend Brett Favre certain: Had “thousands” of concussions

For two decades, quarterback legend Brett Favre played in the NFL. Now, the former Packers playmaker is certain he suffered “thousands” of concussions during that time

Munich – For almost the entire career of quarterback legend Brett Favre, there was no proper sensitivity in the NFL when it came to head injuries. As a result, the longtime Packers playmaker now believes he suffered many of them – and kept playing anyway.

“Concussions happen all the time,” Favre said on the “Bubba Army Radio Show,” according to TMZ.com. “You get tackled, you hit your head on the turf, you see flashes of light or have ringing in your ears, but you can keep playing. That’s a concussion.”

Based on this analysis, the former signal caller is sure he has experienced “thousands” of them. “Every time my head touched the turf, there was a ringing or stars, flashes of light…but I could still keep playing. “

Favre sure: “thousands” suffered concussions

During his career, which lasted from 1991 to 2010, Favre took the field in 302 regular-season games. The number of concussions he suffered can no longer be determined. What is certain, however, is that at one time little or nothing was done to get affected players off the field.
Just a few years ago, the world’s best football league was a long way from the procedures of today’s “Concussion Protocol”. Until 2009, the protocol consisted only of the question of how many fingers should be shown to the affected professional. The correct answer at the time was always two. That was like an unwritten law. Every player knew this and therefore always gave the “right” answer in order to be able to return to the pitch as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, the procedures have been modified considerably and the health of the players has moved more into the foreground. Head injuries, however, remain a permanent danger.
