The Kansas City Chiefs record their third win of the season on matchday 6. However, the success over Washington is in the balance for a long time. Only in the last quarter does the team around quarterback Patrick Mahomes pull away.
Kansas City/Munich – Thanks to a clear improvement in the second half, the Kansas City Chiefs are back on track.
Head coach Andy Reid’s team struggled for a long time at the Washington Football Team, but still won 31:13 in the end. At the break, the hosts still led 13:10 at FedEx Field.
Washington keeps the first half open
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes put in a performance with plenty of light and shade. In total, the 26-year-old threw for 397 yards, setting a season best.
In addition to a touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill and another to Demarcus Robinson, Mahomes also had two interceptions. Especially just before the halftime break, the playmaker acted wildly and threw the football under pressure right into Washington’s defence.
For Mahomes, it was interceptions seven and eight, only Jets quarterback Zach Wilson has thrown more picks this NFL season.
Chiefs running back Williams with two touchdowns
Washington quarterback Taylor Heinecke finished with 182 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception.
Running back Darrel Williams also played a decisive role in the Kansas victory. The 26-year-old ran for two touchdowns and 62 yards.
Kansas City now stands at 3-3, while Washington’s 2-4 record makes the playoffs a distant memory.
Next week, the Chiefs travel to the Tennessee Titans, while the Washington football team heads to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers.
