NFL – After Being Released by the Detroit Lions: Three Teams Have Reportedly Already Contacted Terrion Arnold

Following the serious allegations against Terrion Arnold, he was released by the Detroit Lions. Now, one of his attorneys says the 23-year-old has already been contacted by three NFL teams. However, an ankle monitor could throw a wrench in his plans.

Terrion Arnold is currently facing charges of robbery and kidnapping. According to prosecutors, a conviction could result in a life sentence.

Following the allegations and his arrest, the 23-year-old was released by the Detroit Lions.

Now, one of the former first-round pick’s attorneys has spoken in court, stating that the cornerback could have found a new team even before training camp begins.

According to NFL insider Ari Meirov and the international news agency “Reuters,” Harvey Steinberg, one of the NFL player’s defense attorneys, wrote in a court statement: “Although Mr. Arnold was released by the Detroit Lions, he has already been contacted by three other NFL teams regarding his services.”

Prosecutors Request Ankle Monitor and GPS Device for Terrion Arnold

This statement was an objection to a motion by the prosecution to require Arnold to wear an electronic ankle monitor during his house arrest. The prosecution had previously argued that his release from the Lions meant he no longer had any obligations in American football.

As a professional who has played in the NFL for two years, Arnold does not yet have the status of a “vested veteran” with unrestricted rights. To qualify, players must have played four accredited seasons.

As a result, the cornerback is subject to the waiver rule, which would have allowed other teams to claim him and subsequently sign him.

Steinberg explained that the strict conditions—house arrest, an ankle monitor, and a GPS device—would make it difficult for his client to find a spot on a new team.

Although the attorney had stated that Arnold had already been contacted by three teams, according to the NFL’s daily transaction report, no team had claimed Arnold as of Thursday afternoon.

Terrion Arnold is considered a top prospect

Arnold is considered a top prospect at the cornerback position, known primarily for his strong man-to-man coverage.

In 2024, he was drafted in the first round, 24th overall, by the Detroit Lions. In his rookie season, he played in 16 regular-season games—15 of them as a starter—and helped his team achieve a sensational 15-2 record.

He appeared in at least one playoff game; ultimately, the franchise lost to the Washington Commanders (31–45) in the Divisional Round.

Last season, he took the field only eight times due to a concussion and a shoulder injury.

As a result, “Motor City” completely collapsed after two strong seasons and, finishing last in their division, missed the playoffs.
