NFL: Detroit Lions to Face New England Patriots in Munich

The NFL’s 2026 game in Germany has been confirmed: The Lions will face the New England Patriots. The NFL has now officially announced this.

The matchup for this year’s NFL game in Germany has been set. After the Detroit Lions were announced as the official host months ago, their opponent is now official: the New England Patriots.

The NFL announced this on Wednesday. The matchup is a real showdown; the Lions, led by Amon-Ra St. Brown, are among the NFC’s strongest offensive teams. The Patriots, led by quarterback Drake Maye, are the reigning AFC champions.

This will be the Lions’ first appearance in Germany; New England has previously played on German soil in 2023: With quarterback Mac Jones, they lost 6-10 to the Indianapolis Colts at Frankfurt’s Waldstadion.

NFL International Games: Matchups in London, Paris, and Mexico Confirmed

In addition to the game at the Allianz Arena, eight other international games will take place. In Madrid on November 8, the Atlanta Falcons will face the Cincinnati Bengals. In the first Melbourne Game on September 11, the Los Angeles Rams will take on the San Francisco 49ers.

At the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on September 27, the Dallas Cowboys will take on the Baltimore Ravens.

In Mexico City on November 22, the San Francisco 49ers will face the Minnesota Vikings. And at the Stade de France in Paris on October 25, the New Orleans Saints and the Pittsburgh Steelers will square off.

In addition, three games will be held in London. On October 4, the Washington Commanders will play the Indianapolis Colts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium; on October 11 and 18, the Jacksonville Jaguars will face the Philadelphia Eagles and the Houston Texans at Tottenham and Wembley Stadium, respectively.
