Mike Vrabel is in the Super Bowl with the New England Patriots. As a player, he learned under Bill Belichick. He praises him highly after the public discussions.
Bill Belichick will not be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
A decision by the Pro Football Hall of Fame Commission that was met with head-shaking internationally.
Mike Vrabel is the first head coach since Bill Belichick to lead the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl. What’s more, Vrabel played under Belichick from 2001 to 2008 and won the Super Bowl three times with him.
For Vrabel, the answer to the question of whether his mentor is a Hall of Famer is clear.
Vrabel’s support for Belichick continues unabated
Vrabel considers the Belichick case to be a mistake that will be corrected: “I am confident that Bill will be inducted. I don’t know the process. I know everyone is talking about the process right now. Whatever the outcome of the vote may be. I know Bill is a Hall of Fame coach. Whether he gets in this year, next year, or the year after, he’s a Hall of Fame football coach.”
During Vrabel’s playing career, Belichick traded him to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009, where the linebacker spent his last two seasons.
Nevertheless, Vrabel remains a big supporter of Belichick:
“I really appreciated my time with Bill, I enjoyed it. Every single second, eight years with Bill.”
In 2002, 2004, and 2005, the player-coach duo won a Super Bowl.
