In training camp, Shedeur Sanders is battling Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and Kenny Pickett for the starting quarterback position. Sanders has the best statistics.
The competition for the quarterback position at the Cleveland Browns is more intense than at any other NFL team.
Veteran Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, who came from the Philadelphia Eagles, and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders are hoping to land the starting job in the absence of Deshaun Watson, who is out with an Achilles tendon injury.
All four quarterbacks have reason to be hopeful, so all four are trying to make the best possible impression in training camp.
If the statistics are to be believed, things are currently looking best for Sanders, who fell so far in the draft.
Shedeur Sanders with the best completion rate
According to ESPN Cleveland, the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, who was selected 144th in the fifth round of this year’s draft, threw six touchdowns and did not throw an interception.
The 23-year-old had a completion rate of 70 percent, completing 49 of 70 attempts to Browns receivers.
Third-round pick Gabriel took significantly more throws but only completed 54 percent (62/113). He threw four touchdowns but also two interceptions.

Kenny Pickett with the fewest pass attempts
Pickett had the fewest pass attempts (23/34), with a completion rate of 67.6 percent. The 27-year-old also has four touchdowns and two interceptions to his name.
Flacco also remained interception-free, with the 40-year-old 2013 Super Bowl winner throwing three touchdown passes. However, Flacco’s completion rate of 58.7 percent (54/92) is not particularly impressive.
Of course, the statistics from training camp do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about who will actually start the season for the Browns.
But at least they show that Sanders seems to be doing pretty well in the race with the three other quarterbacks.
