Seattle Seahawks: Will Top Star Retire After Super Bowl Win? “Haven’t Given It a Second Thought”

Did wide receiver Cooper Kupp ever consider retiring? The 32-year-old says no.

With his second Super Bowl ring on his finger, Cooper Kupp could have walked away from the sport with his head held high. But retirement? Not an option.

The 32-year-old Seattle Seahawks wide receiver hasn’t given a second thought to ending his career after the Super Bowl triumph. “No, not for a second,” Kupp said Thursday when asked if he had toyed with the idea of retiring at the peak of his career. “I love playing this game. That was never a thought.”

Seattle Seahawks: Kupp wants to look only forward

His numbers in the regular season were solid rather than dominant: 47 receptions, 593 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.

He delivered the decisive moments in the postseason. In the NFC Championship Game against his former team, the Los Angeles Rams, he caught a touchdown and maintained the narrow lead with a first-down catch on third-and-7. In Super Bowl LX against the New England Patriots, he was the team’s most-targeted receiver with six catches, 61 yards, and twelve targets.

Looking back? Briefly. Looking ahead? Resolutely. “There are moments of reflection,” Kupp said as he looked at the championship banners in the team facility. “But at the end of that reflection is a point that says, ‘And now?’ There’s a chance to be part of something bigger.”
