NFL – San Francisco 49ers: Will Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk stay after all?

Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk have long been considered candidates to leave the 49ers. But now someone in charge is taking a different tone

Won’t the San Francisco 49ers be letting Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk go after all? For months it had been reported that at least one of the two stars could leave the franchise. GM John Lynch has now changed his tune.

During an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show”, Lynch stated that the 49ers are no longer interested in trading either player: “”Were there talks during the draft and the offseason? Absolutely! We’re past that now.”

The general manager had already stated last weekend that the franchise had not received any offers for either wide receiver on day two of the draft.

“I’m doing everything in my power to keep our roster together. That’s my goal. And I’m not questioning that. I have so much confidence. Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo are guys we drafted. We’re very proud of the guys they’ve become,” the 52-year-old continued.

Nevertheless, the 49ers already made provisions in the draft and secured two young pass receivers with picks 31 and 135 in Ricky Pearsall and Jake Cowing.

Lynch himself thinks highly of the two “new additions”: “We have a vision for these two guys, how they can contribute. They embody a lot of the qualities we like. They were the best players for us at the time. We’re excited to add these guys to an already strong team.”

Last season, San Francisco nearly won the title. In the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs, things looked good for the Californians for a long time. In the end, however, the 49ers were defeated 22:25 after overtime
