NFL: Russell Wilson wants to play “20 years” for the Seattle Seahawks

There were always reports that Russell Wilson would strongly question his future with the Seattle Seahawks. Now, the franchise quarterback has clearly stated his commitment to his team and is giving fans hope.

Munich – Dissatisfaction with general manager John Schneider, too many sacks, lack of success: Much has been written about the relationship between Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks recently.

The franchise quarterback would prefer a trade after the season, and the no-trade clause in his contract could be waived for three teams.

An “ESPN” reporter claimed that the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos would play a role in the 33-year-old’s mind.

None of this seems to be true in any way, Wilson himself apparently still sees himself in the Northwest of the United States for a long time. Asked whether he wanted to fulfil his contract in Seattle until 2023, “Russ” said that this was precisely his hope – and more.

Seattle Seahawks: Russell Wilson confesses

“I hope not only to fulfill this contract, but to play 20 years of my career here,” the signal caller brags. The “ESPN” report was a “non-story,” he stressed.

“None of this is currently taking place in my head. I love Seattle. It’s a place I’ve loved every day so far and every moment so far,” he professed of the city he’s called home for over a decade.

While not everything would go round and round with the team, the Seahawks would still have the season in their own hands. “It’s five weeks and counting. That’s where my head is at,” Wilson continued. Right now, the Seahawks are in last place in the NFC West with a 4-8 record.

So “Hawks fans” can breathe a sigh of relief for the time being and continue to buy jerseys of their idol without having to worry acutely that Wilson will soon be wearing other colours. Still, you can never be too sure in the NFL business.

20 years with the Seattle Seahawks? “Will that happen? I don’t know. But that’s what I pray for. That’s my hope,” he said. That’s all the city of Seattle needs to hear for now.
