NFL – Odell Beckham Jr. on his emotional return to the New York Giants: “I never wanted to leave”

Odell Beckham Jr. returns to the New York Giants after seven years and speaks candidly about unfinished business, gratitude, and his last chance in the NFL.

It’s a story that comes full circle: Odell Beckham Jr. is back with the New York Giants. Seven years after his controversial departure, the wide receiver returns to his original team as a free agent.

“This franchise has given me everything. So many unforgettable memories. My life was here. I never thought I’d ever play anywhere else.”

Beckham spent his first five NFL seasons in New York before the Giants sent him to the Cleveland Browns in a blockbuster trade in the spring of 2019. After a long detour via the Browns, the Los Angeles Rams, and most recently the Miami Dolphins, the 33-year-old is now back home.

At the Giants’ OTA, Beckham spoke publicly for the first time about his return. “The way I had to leave—it didn’t sit right with me. That’s not who I am. I never give up, not on myself and not on anything.”

Beckham last played for the Dolphins on December 8, 2024. He sat out the entire 2025 season. Over the past four years, he has played in only 23 games in total.

A record that raises questions about his physical condition. But the receiver is determined: “God has given me another chance to play. I’m not saying this is my last year, and I’m not promising five more either.”

“I’m taking this opportunity as it comes,” he said with a smile.
