NFL: Amon-Ra St. Brown historically strong – Kyler Murray makes dream comeback

In a high-scoring game between the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Chargers, Amon Ra St. Brown comes up trumps. Kyler Murray makes a dream comeback for the Arizona Cardinals

Detroit Lions @ Los Angeles Chargers 41:38

German wide receiver Amon Ra St. Brown had the best game of his career (in terms of yards). With 156 receiving yards, he helped the Lions to a narrow victory over the Los Angeles Chargers and caught a touchdown pass. Remarkably, St. Brown has caught passes for at least 100 yards in six of his eight appearances to date.

The high-scoring game was only decided on the last play of the game. The Chargers had tied the game with a touchdown with 3:34 minutes remaining. But Riley Patterson decided the game in Detroit’s favor with a 41-yard field goal.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff threw for a strong 333 yards and two touchdowns. The running game was also a force with a total of 200 yards gained. The Chargers relied primarily on the passing game. Quarterback Justin Herbert recorded 323 passing yards, four touchdown passes and one interception. Detroit improves to a record of seven wins and two losses. The Chargers are 4-5 on the season.

Atlanta Falcons @ Arizona Cardinals 23:25

He came, saw and won! Kyler Murray made a strong comeback after a lengthy ACL injury. With 249 passing yards and a rushing touchdown, he helped the Cardinals to victory in his first game of the season. He harmonized particularly well with wide receiver Trey McBride, who caught passes for 131 yards.

The Cardinals were trailing by one point when they regained possession with 2:33 minutes left in the game. Murray led his offense to the opponent’s 5-yard line, allowing kicker Matt Prater to easily convert the field goal for the win.

Falcons playmaker Taylor Heinicke (55 YDS, 1 TD) had to be taken out of the game due to injury, giving the demoted Desmond Ridder (39 YDS) a chance. Atlanta relied primarily on the running game, which managed 184 yards. The Cardinals, who have been the NFL’s most unsuccessful team so far, improve to a 2-8 record. The Falcons are 4-6 after three straight losses.

New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys 17:49

The Dallas Cowboys had an easy game with the New York Giants. With a halftime score of 28:0, the game was decided early. The Giants, who have now lost seven of their last eight games, only managed to make up some ground in the closing stages.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had little resistance, ultimately recording 404 passing yards and four touchdown passes. The Giants’ offense was ineffective for long stretches. Running back Saquon Barkley at least had a few good moments with 66 rushing yards. Backup quarterback Tommy DeVito totaled a measly 86 passing yards, but at least threw two touchdown passes with only one interception.

The Cowboys are now 6-3, while the Giants are 2-7. A small consolation: In this form, New York is the “top favorite” for the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Washington Commanders @ Seattle Seahawks 26:29

The game seemed to be headed for overtime when the Commanders tied the game with a touchdown with 52 seconds left. But the Seahawks had enough time left to get back into field goal range, allowing Jason Myers to rush 43 yards for the win.

Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith had a strong game with 369 passing yards and two touchdown passes. Commanders quarterback Sam Howell also totaled an impressive 312 passing yards and three touchdown passes. Seattle is now 6-3 on the season, while Washington is 4-6.
