NFL: Aaron Rodgers causes a stir with more controversial Corona statements

Just a few weeks after the vaccination hoax involving Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers quarterback follows up with the next statements about Corona. His accusations of a two-tier society and the effect of vaccinations are particularly precarious.

Munich – It just doesn’t get quiet around Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers this season.

After the superstar recently shone again with athletic performances on the field, he is now causing a stir with the next series of controversial statements about Corona. On the “Pat McAfee Show”, the playmaker got his frustration off his chest.

At least Rodgers noted several times during the interview that he himself is not a doctor and that it is only his personal opinion.

Aaron Rodgers on …

..Corona’s impact during the playoffs: “You can’t really block it out like that, obviously. I’m not that affected right now because I don’t have to be tested for 90 days after my Covid illness. The league has already made small adjustments because so many players have caught it in the past few days.”

.. the disconnect between vaccinated and unvaccinated players: “What I don’t understand and what doesn’t make sense to me is the fact that the NFL still distinguishes between vaccinated and unvaccinated players. It’s been proven that unvaccinated people don’t spread the virus any more or less than vaccinated people and therefore aren’t superspreaders. So why is there still a separation here? I don’t understand why there is still a two-tier society in our league.”

Note: The NFL adjusted the Corona rules shortly after Rodgers’ interview to comply with the new U.S. Department of Health and Human Services requirements. Players who test positive and show no symptoms can leave their home isolation after only five days – regardless of their vaccination status. A negative test is also no longer required to end quarantine.

.. the comparison to the flu: “Two years ago, the NFL was hit with a tough flu wave – we had almost 20 cases on the team. During that time, everyone who was affected just stayed home. But as soon as they were able to play, they were allowed back on the field. They complied and if you had symproms, you had to report them. It seems to me that the Omicron variant is very similar to the flu.”

.. On the unvaccinated players: “We’re invoking the facts from some science and pushing a narrative that doesn’t really make sense. There aren’t many unvaccinated players left in the league, so it can’t really be a pandemic of the unvaccinated.”

.. On vaccination: “When the vaccines came out, it was said that you can’t get covid with them and you can’t pass it on. All of a sudden that has changed and they are pretending they never said it. Whether vaccinated or not, there are positive cases on both sides. But we’re still only punishing the unvaccinated, while a lot of the teams that have a lot of cases right now are fully vaccinated.”

.. On alternative cures: “There is still no public discussion about possible treatments when people test positive. I know that many teams use the same methods behind the scenes that I have used and been criticised for. If someone doesn’t agree with that, then they should at least suggest other options.”

… On science:
“If science cannot be questioned, then it is no longer science, it is propaganda. And that is the truth. That’s what science is really about. Making a thesis, questioning or testing it and then publishing the results. When did science become this blind agreement? There are no more debates about what might actually cure people.”

.. On “the other side”: “I have no problem with anyone being vaccinated. Everyone has the right to decide about their own body. I did my own research and came to a different conclusion. I have an allergy to mRNA vaccines, so I made that decision. There should be freedom to do what everyone thinks is best for themselves. And not have mandates and duties enforced that exclude people who can’t get vaccinated. “

.. On attacks over his decision: “I don’t understand why vaccinated people are still blaming the unvaccinated for the pandemic. After all, they took a vaccine to prevent infection, but in the end they did get the virus. I’m not a doctor, I get that. I get the most criticism for that. But I have consulted with several doctors. Even though they are alternative cures and homeopathic doctors, it was the best for me. I am not an uneducated person just because I think it is the best for me.”

.. On respecting the opinions of others: “We need healthy debate. Freedom of expression. When did we lose the ability to respect another opinion? It’s just an opinion. It may well end up not being agreed upon – but let’s have that debate. Apparently, though, it’s easier to label people with a different opinion as ‘anti-vaccinationists’ or something similar. We’re welcome to have a conversation or you cancels me on because I’m not a doctor and have done my own research. I have not put anyone in danger. I took care of myself and got tested every day. Then at some point I tested positive, probably after an encounter with a vaccinated person who was positive. “
