After the preseason loss to the New England Patriots, the Carolina Panthers’ evening wasn’t over yet. There was another scary moment on the plane
The Carolina Panthers should be completely satisfied. Because the start to the preseason was no fun for the team.
First, the worst team of last season suffered a 3:17 defeat at the Patriots, an unsuccessful start for new coach Dave Canales.
Then came the shock on the return journey: on the way to the gate at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, the Delta Airlines plane came off the runway at 2:35 a.m. with the Panthers’ players, coaches and staff on board and got stuck in the mud.
“The team can confirm that the chartered team plane went off the runway after landing safely and became stuck in the mud,” a team spokesperson told NFL.com. One person complained of pain, but no one was injured.
The team had to leave the plane and take buses to the terminal. Small consolation: The Panthers had Friday off.
