Minority owners put pressure on Dan Snyder to sell Washington football team

The Washington football team just won’t rest easy. The minority owners now want to persuade owner Dan Snyder to sell the franchise.

The pressure on Dan Snyder just won’t let up. According to a US daily newspaper, the minority owners are said to have asked the owner of the Washington Football Team to sell his shares in the NFL franchise.

Unrest within the franchise is increasing
Within the franchise, a real power struggle is said to have broken out in the meantime, especially since Snyder has no intention of selling the team, Andrew Beaton and Cara Lombardo report in the “Wall Street Journal”.

Snyder has now initiated legal proceedings against a minority owner who is said to have tried to make public defamatory information against him. Among the three minority owners is Frederick W. Smith, the head of Washington sponsor FedEx.

Chaotic off-season continues
The call to sell the team fits into an absolutely chaotic off-season for the Washington Football Team.

In mid-July the “Washington Post” reported years of sexual harassment within the franchise, before those responsible gave in to growing public pressure and dropped the racist nickname (“Redskins”) and replaced it with “Football Team”.

Snyder has owned the Washington Football Team since 1999, when he bought the franchise for $800 million.
